You may have heard about the modern skin care treatment “vampire facial™” that is growing in popularity. The Vampire Facial [trademarked by designer-physician, Charles Runels, MD] offers an innovative combination that’s become a sensation world-wide. This anti-aging rejuvenation treatment helps reverse wrinkles and acne scars. If you are considering this treatment in SW Idaho, you should consult Treasure Valley Family Medicine; if it’s right for you, we will be happy to provide this service. We are certified members of the only official & trademarked organization, which originated the vampire facial™ – check us out at http://www.vampirefacial.com/members/directory/.

How Vampire Facials Work

First, a specialized tube of blood is drawn like a usual lab test, which is spun to isolate platelet-rich plasma (PRP) containing growth factors from the patient’s blood. Then a micro-needling device at 1mm or less depth is used to create multiple micro-punctures –both driving the isolated growth factors into the skin & creating stimulus for the body to tighten and rejuvenate the collagen of the face. Finally, the PRP is painted onto the micro-punctures so that the growth factors soak into the tissue for further stimulation of tightening and skin rejuvenation. The result is wrinkle reduction, glowing color, and scar softening for a beautiful, younger and very natural result.

Why You Should See a Family Doctor for Vampire Facials

Despite being developed and trademarked by a primary care physician, many people are unaware that the vampire facial procedure can be performed by a family doctor with the proper training. You can safely experience this regenerative therapy right here at Treasure Valley Family Medicine.

As your primary care home, we are aware of all your health conditions. If you’re interested in this new procedure, we can guide you as to whether this treatment is suitable for you.

Even though it has an intimidating name, the vampire facial is a very safe procedure when performed properly by certified clinicians. And, because it’s being performed at a medical facility, you have the added benefit of knowing we understand proper safety protocols. Our close relationships with our patients also makes it simple to discuss related health issues.

Frequently Asked Questions about Vampire Facials

What is the Vampire Facial?

Microdermabrasion is followed by application of concentrated growth factors found in platelet rich plasma (PRP). Both steps promote skin cell turnover and regeneration to rejuvenate the skin appearance. It reduces wrinkles (rhytids), age spots (dyschromia) and acne scars to freshen the skin and even the tone.

How Many Times Do I Need to Visit the Clinic?

For routine rejuvenation, every 4-6 months is reasonable, but if trying to reverse acne scarring, every 4-6 weeks will provide better results.

Is this the same as a Vampire Facelift Procedure?

No.

The Facelift procedure combines injectable PRP or platelet-rich plasma with injectable hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma made by Juvederm. The fillers correct fat pad volume loss due to aging and can accentuate facial lines associated with classic beauty. Think of fillers as rebuilding scaffolding or framework for the face. The PRP is injected to promote the growth of new skin cells which adhere to the scaffolding and promote smooth revitalized skin. This enhanced procedure is available at TVFM.

Am I a Candidate for Vampire Facials?

Almost anyone can go for a vampire facial procedure, but always choose an experienced professional for the cosmetic treatment.

Is Vampire Facial Safe?

The vampire facial is a very safe procedure, since it involves using your own blood growth factors to promote skin health. However, you may experience slight pain and bruising.

What about after the procedure?

Your face will be red like a sunburn for a few days. We recommend gentle cleansers only with moisturizing emollients. Avoid strong alcohol-based toners and significant sun exposure for 7-10 days afterwards.

How Much Does Vampire Facial Cost?

The costs of vampire facials can vary. Nationally, the average cost of the treatment is $1,000-$1,500. At TVFM, our cash price is $600.
